The Forest of Hands and Teeth
by Carrie Ryan
Sisterhood rule the town and the Guardians protect it from the Unconsecrated who never rest. The fence it the most inportant part of the village, the one barrier between the people and the Forest of Hands and Teeth.
Mary has been taught and believed this for so long, but what she thought was true is slowly becoming muddled. Secrets that have been discovered trouble her about the Sisterhood, she learns about the power of the Guardians and the truth behind who the Consecrated are and why they are what they are.
The untinkable happens and the fence is breached. Mary must decide what is most important in her life, and if there can be more outside the village than though. Is it possible to live in the world out there? Love, death and chaos... and the truth of the Forest of Hands and Teeth.
What modern selection would in these genre would be complete without a 'zombie' story? Here is a version of one, but there are also numerous male protagonist ones out there mostly. Try Alone: Chasers by James Phelan for a male one. Rather light but enjoyable.
